Technical Project Lead



AbleVets, LLC is a fast-growing Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing healthcare information technology services and resources to help the VA and DoD improve the lives of the people they serve. AbleVets has an opportunity for an experienced, motivated Project Manager to support our customer. This position is located in our Chantilly office.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have proven software development project management experience and must be well versed in full systems development life cycle within an Agile methodology. Candidate must possess strong technical background (e.g., past experience as a developer and/or system engineer) and must be able to serve in both a project management capacity and a technical thought leader capacity.  The Technical Project Lead will be responsible for the performance and success of the assigned project including, but not limited to: scrum master, day-to-day management of deployment tasks, staff assignments, performance management, deliverables, customer relations, internal reporting, and risk management. Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Understanding a range of technical project requirements and leading discussions and providing thought leadership across a range of project tasks
  • Managing the customer relationship and providing project direction and leadership
  • Identifying and mitigating risks to the project
  • Managing to cost, schedule, and performance
  • Effectively leading technical professionals and a cross-functional team
  • Ensuring execution of quality deliverables within established schedules


Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business, or related scientific or technical discipline. Six additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Ten (10) years of demonstrated and hands-on experience in Agile project management
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid interpersonal skills and demonstrable team building skills
  • Must be able to travel when needed
  • Selected candidate must be able to successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting.
