Overview

 AbleVets, LLC is a fast-growing Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing healthcare information technology services and resources to help the VA and DoD improve the lives of the people they serve. AbleVets has an opportunity for an experienced, motivated Project Architect to support our customers. Working closely with project managers and stakeholders, the Project Architect will design solutions and provide implementation guidance to complex software and hardware solutions for various VA IT systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design of technical strategies and architectures, providing guidance on implementation processes, techniques and tools, and leading and/or participating in coding of software features across one or more IT system projects. 

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance as Technical Lead for small team of software engineers and supervise team progress
  • Provide solutioning for Project development and progress
  • Lead teams in all areas of the development process, including developing and guiding team members through standards and best practices, functional and technical design and implementation, etc.
  • Participate in early architectural service design discussions and decisions
  • Will work from at our Chantilly, VA office

Qualifications

Minumum Experience

 

  • Minimum Masters degree in Computer Science or related degree
  • 10+ years of experience using Java and Spring to develop large scale enterprise systems
  • 10 additional years of experience will mitigate degree requirement
  • 8+ years of experience using Java and Spring to develop large scale enterprise systems
  • Knowledge and experience of enterprise architecture and event driven architecture
  • Expertise in developing RESTful APIs and Microservices
  • Experience implementing various design patterns
  • Working experience with TDD techniques and principles
  • Experience working in an Agile team environment
  • CI experience using GIT, Maven, etc.
  • Selected candidate must be able to successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous government development experience a plus
  • Working knowledge of Docker
  • Knowledge of cloud architectures and deployments a plus
  • VistA knowledge a plus
