Overview

AbleVets, LLC is a fast-growing Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing healthcare information technology services and resources to help the VA and DoD improve the lives of the people they serve. AbleVets has an opportunity for an experienced, motivated System Security Engineer to support our customer. Candidates must possess strong communications skills and have a passion for constantly improving the individual and team effectiveness. This position is located in Chantilly, Virginia.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

The ideal candidate must have Cyber Security experience working with NIST or the VA 6500. Candidates need to be policy- and document-oriented, capable of working in technical documentation with good verbal and written communication skills. Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Review security plans, processes, and strategies to identify areas for improvement or update
  • Assess SSPs, RAs, IRPs, ISCPs, DRPs, and CMPs along with other document review to provide meaningful feedback to the customer
  • Work with the team SMEs, as needed, to complete document and policy review

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business discipline; 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education requirement
  • 5 or more years of experience
  • An understanding of security regulations and directives for organizational and agency-level requirements
  • Experience designing and implementing security requirements into products and systems
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Network Security programs experience
  • Some experience with or exposure to NIST-800 requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
  • MS Suite experience, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Ability to work across multiple disciplines
  • Ability to work closely with customers and provide presentations
  • Must be a team player
  • Willing to take on other tasks as assigned
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust; will be required to undergo a background investigation in order to gain access to classified/protected information

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with or exposure to VA 6500 requirements is a plus
