Overview

AbleVets, LLC is a fast-growing Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing healthcare information technology services and resources to help the VA and DoD improve the lives of the people they serve. AbleVets has an opportunity for an experienced, motivated technical writing with Business Analysis experience to support healthcare information technology projects for our customers.  This position is locate at headquarters in Chantilly, VA or remote.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

Working closely with senior developers and a cross-functional team, the developer will support development and enhancements of heath IT web applications that address all customer priorities, including performance, functionality, ease of use, and security considerations. Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyze, design, development and delivery of Caché applications.
  • Serve as a resource to render patches via VA Forum patch release system for all company National Products.
  • Develop and test apps using an Agile delivery approach that supports incremental development of high-quality, fully tested products every 2 weeks
  • Actively participate in the full system lifecycle including analysis, planning, implementation, testing, documentation, and operations
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Create and maintain software documentation

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline and at least 5 years of related experience
  • Proficient in VistA Systems development
  • Experience with InterSystems technology stack (Caché, Ensemble)
  • Experience developing APIs, RPCs and clinical application code using Caché Mumps or COS (Caché Object Script)
  • Self-starter that can work under general direction in a highly collaborative, team based environment
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Selected applicants will be subject to a government investigation and must meet eligibility requirements and obtain Government-granted access. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous Department of Veterans Affairs experience
  • Section 508 compliance knowledge
