Overview

We are currently looking to fill a new Business Analyst position for a large federal government project.  AbleVets applicants must be able to commute to Chantilly, VA or work remote.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

The Business Analyst will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and applying data to improve operations. The successful candidate will present key data insights to management to assist with the ongoing assessment and strategic development of the relevant operational model. This includes feedback on ways of improving operations and efficiency (ROI). Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

 

  • Working with Government personnel from functional communities and facilitate working groups to document current business practices, identify process gaps, redesign processes, identifying appropriate controls, and design automated solutions.
  • Collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data and information
  • Working with the customer and other SMEs concerning requirements and translating them into functional requirements, as needed
  • Creating and maintaining business requirements, as needed
  • Consulting with project stakeholders and clients to define requirements and clearly articulate business situations that require technical solutions.
  • Preparing documentation and other artifacts, as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a BA/BS computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required. Eight (8) additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.  
  • Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of professional experience in functional / business analysis domain.
  • Experience with the Department of Veteran Affairs, tools, processes and frameworks is a plus.
  • Experience with core PM/BA tools including Microsoft Project Professional, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Office Professional (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint,Visio, Access)
  • Strong documentation skills required with excellent verbal and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized/detail-oriented.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across multiple levels of management and possess strong consultation skills
  • Ability to work independently at times.  Must be self-motivated and results-focused.
  • Currently has or can obtain Low Level Security Clearance (NACI).
  • Current VA access is highly preferred but not mandatory for this position.

Desired Qualifications:

  • VA Rational Tools experience is a plus
