    AbleVets, LLC, is a fast-growing Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing healthcare information technology services and resources to help the VA and DoD improve the lives of the people they serve. AbleVets, has an opportunity available for an experienced, motivated Systems Architect to support healthcare information technology projects for our customers. This position is based out of Arlington, VA.

    Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

    This position is for an experienced Systems Architect to work in a fast-paced, Agile environment to support a large, complex COTS implementation effort. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical leadership and architecture guidance and will participate in the full systems lifecycle including analysis, planning, implementation, testing, documentation, and operations. The Systems Architect will work to understand customer needs, validate solutions, and define and create architecture depictions and documents to ensure seamless integration; and address performance, functionality, ease of use and security considerations.  Specific responsibilities may include:

    • Provide technical expertise, direction, and leadership to develop and communicate the program vision and solution roadmap
    • Support overall roadmap management including prioritizing workflow, defining releases, and creating Build and/or Sprint Plans
    • Support development of a solution architecture using engineering best practices working with applicable technical work groups to account for data architecture, infrastructure architecture, system design, and relevant standards
    • Assist development and test teams with acceptance testing, troubleshooting, load testing, capacity planning and performance tuning as required

    Write product specifications and design documentation for system components, facilitating review and/or release of documentation as required

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or the equivalent and a minimum of 10 years related experience
    • Five (5) years technical architecture experience, including a variety of programming languages, platforms, and operating systems 
    • Hands-on experience developing or customizing enterprise-level COTS software solutions 
    • Extensive knowledge of and experience with software development lifecycle and processes, specifically in an Agile, SCRUM environment, including development tools such as JIRA 
    • Demonstrable, hands-on VA information technology experience 
    • Ability to facilitate and coordinate efforts with key government and non-government stakeholders 
    • Ability to work in a highly collaborative, team-based environment 
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills 
    • Experience must also include:  
      • Significant knowledge and or experience with DoD and VA infrastructure 
      • Intermediate technical knowledge of information security concepts and technologies 
      • Familiarity with risk management and a proven track record in successful project execution 
      • Proven leadership ability
    • Ability to obtain a public trust
    • Minimal travel may be required

    Additional Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience with Cerner Millennium
