AbleVets has an opportunity for an experienced, motivated information technology Account Director to support our HHS CMS customers.

    Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

    Successful candidates will have proven success in both meeting account growth goals and in supporting delivery. The Account Director is positioned to understand and anticipate client needs and expectations, bringing extensive experience in account growth, profit loss, and exceptional client relationship management. The role is responsible for:

    • Business development and capture activities (identifying and assessing potential new opportunities, proposal support)
    • Driving profitable sales growth, ensuring profitable delivery, and influencing the client strategy to help drive high performance on the account
    • Providing account growth strategies
    • Client account planning and forecasting activities, including creating an overall financial plan for the account
    • The ideal candidate will have a proven track record winning work within the account, including
      • A thorough understanding of the account environment and its organizational structure; domain knowledge of the account, including existing partners, challenges, competitive landscape, key gov't stakeholders, and the acquisition processes
      • Existing government and industry relationships
      • Developing key partnerships
      • Identifying a pipeline and shaping opportunities through white papers and presentations
      • Ability to meet established financial targets
      • Strategic positioning for growth
      • Supporting and increasing win probability
      • Growth strategies, account planning, and sales target responsibility

    A thorough understanding of delivery, sound leadership, and information technology project management skills are necessary for success. The Account Director will be responsible for the overall performance and success of the projects in the Account Portfolio, including, but not limited to:

    • Account oversight of portfolio, including customer relationship management
    • Mentorship of Program Managers to ensure they are providing day-to-day management of overall contracts; managing financial and administrative aspects of the contracts; project staffing, staff assignments, performance management; deliverables, internal reporting, and risk management
    • Succession planning and talent management for account
    • Project planning activities
    • Resource management activities (including job requisition and interviewing)
    • Working with PM to ensure successful contract execution (cost, schedule, performance)


    • A Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of related experience
    • Experience managing IT contracts and delivery, including staffing, schedule and performance management, budgeting, and financial reporting.
    • Proven ability to collaborate with senior business leaders to define and implement strategies for establishing new revenue areas and/or to expand revenue within existing business
    • Focused experience in building or growing IT strategy business for headquarters-level clients in the Federal Agencies
    • Market/account leadership skills including opportunity pipeline management, contract management, capability development, developing sales targets, and profit accountability
    • Expertise in capture and business development:
      • Opportunity shaping and positioning through client relationship building, whitepaper development, market intelligence research, and leveraging understanding of critical mission needs
      • Ability to establish strong teams including teammate identification, skills and complementary value proposition, and cost competitiveness
      • Bid decision analysis including competitive landscape assessment, incumbent positioning, return-on-investment (win/profit analyses), corporate skills match, key staff availability, and conflict of interest considerations
      • Detailed Price-To-Win analyses and associated staffing strategies
      • RFI and pre-RFP response development
    • Strong enterprise IT strategy and policy background, grounded in computer science educational background. Areas of expertise include organizational data strategy, IT portfolio management, IT infrastructure strategy, enterprise architecture, and shared services policy.
    • Ability to work closely with proposal development staff to turn market strategies into winning bids
    • Experience should also include:
      • Knowledge in the use and management of Microsoft Project and Kanban software
      • Risk management experience
      • Proven track record in successful project execution
      • Proven leadership ability
      • Excellent troubleshooting skills
      • Expertise in client management activities
      • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, demonstrable team building skills
    • U.S. Citizenship is required as is successfully passing a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting
    • Must be able to travel when needed

    • Experience with Agile software development
    • Health IT experience or knowledge
    • Cloud computing knowledge
    • Emerging technologies and products knowledge
