AbleVets has an opportunity for an experienced, motivated Test Engineer to support healthcare information technology projects for our customers.

    Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

    As a member of the test team, the successful candidate will plan, manage, and execute tasks related to the creation of test cases, test scripts, and test data. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing analysis and testing to ensure requirements are testable, unique, and clear and that the functions of the system under assessment meet or exceed all established requirements. The Test Engineer will use experience in both manual and automation testing to assist in the Quality Management process by extracting meaningful test metrics for Requirements, Test Execution, and Defect Analysis. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Work closely with project managers and product owners to understand product specifics and to create corresponding test strategies
    • Work with developers to define the testing methodology required for development in a reliable and scalable environment
    • Design test scenarios and plans
    • Develop executable test scripts for automation of interactive applications
    • Execute testing on both web frontend and backend systems
    • Assist in creating project resource estimates and defining metrics to track completion phase, defect reports, defect prevention, and test coverage
    • Able to work in fast-paced Agile development environment
    • Coordinate program-wide Section 508 compliance of products to include planning, execution and evaluation using assistive technology validation tools

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline; five (5) years of experience may be substituted for degree
    • At least 3 years of experience testing web applications
    • At least 3 years of experience with defect tracking tool (JIRA, Rational CM, Quality Center) and processes for defect lifecycle
    • At least 2 years of experience in automation using Selenium and WebDriver/Watir tool set
    • Experience using version control (Git, subversion, etc.)
    • Ability to assist with test planning, estimates, test coverage for product releases
    • Ability to write test cases/scripts to confirm requirements and defect fixes
    • Ability to identify defects and create comprehensive defect reports that clearly portray the issue
    • Ability to assist with evaluation and reporting of test cycles
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
    • Ability to take initiative on assigned projects/tasks and work with minimal supervision
    • Attention to detail and follow-up are essential
    • This position may support a government contract and have access to classified or government protected information for which US citizenship is required
    • Ability to obtain a Public Trust

    Additional Desired Qualifications:

    • ISQTB or CSTE certification
    • Experience with Rational JAZZ suite
    • Experience with VA CPRS and VistA domains
    • Experience with:
      • Java 8
      • Oracle (or any SQL database)
      • MongoDB
      • Docker
      • Tomcat
