    AbleVets, LLC is a fast growing Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing healthcare information technology services and resources to help the VA and DoD improve the lives of the people they serve. AbleVets has an opportunity for an experienced, motivated Scrum Master to support our customer. This position is located in our Chantilly, VA office.

    Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

    The Scrum Master will support the delivery team by ensuring clear communication and organization and implementing Agile best practices to lead the delivery of quality products. The successful candidate will gather requirements, and create and maintain the production backlog and release plan. Working with stakeholders to understand customer needs, the Scrum Master will validate solutions, develop and communicate the program vision, create and maintain a product roadmap, and manage the backlog to prioritize workflow and define releases. Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Work closely with the customer and stakeholders to understand and fulfill the product vision and roadmap
    • Communicate committed stories for the upcoming Sprint to Scrum team and stakeholders
    • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies and assist with impediment resolution in a timely, cost effective manner
    • Conducting elaboration and leading efforts to break down stories in to fine grained tasks
    • Leading sprint planning and build planning. Making sure Rational/Jira reflects the scope of the current sprint accurately at all the time
    • Identifying the risks and updating risk register
    • Be accountable for the independent delivery of value to customers and stakeholders by ensuring that the right product is defined, prioritized, and built
    • Proactively manage and prioritize the product, release, and sprint backlogs according to business value, complexity, and expectations
    • Provide business leadership for the Scrum team by understanding and executing the product goals and vision
    • Engage stakeholders, contributors, and technical resources to analyze user needs and resource limitations
    • Ensure the completeness and accuracy of product backlog items for the Scrum team by creating clear and thoughtful documentation
    • Respect and empower the Scrum team’s ability to create its own plan of action each sprint while protecting the team
    • Track and produce key metrics (e.g., burn-down charts)

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • A bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Operations Research, Mathematics, Cost Accounting, or related scientific or technical discipline (8 years of experience can be substituted for degree)
    • Five (5) years of demonstrated, hands-on experience with software development projects in an Agile environment
    • Experience functioning as a Scrum Master in support of application development team(s)
    • Direct hands on experience with writing user stories, grooming backlogs, and prioritizing conflicting requirements
    • Experience with Agile development tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Rally, IBM Rational Tools, etc.
    • Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
    • Demonstrated ability to use strong leadership skills to provide guidance, influence, and direction
    • Ability to translate metrics into business decisions of importance and priorities
    • Must be Certified Scrum Master (CSM).
    • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Public Trust security clearance which will require successful completion of a background check and fingerprinting.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Previous government consulting experience
    • Experience consulting for Veterans Affairs (VA) (active VA clearance/PIV a major plus)
    • Experience using the IBM Rational Tool suite
    • Healthcare IT project experience
