AbleVets, has an opportunity available for an experienced, motivated Technical Test Engineer Manager/Lead to support healthcare information technology projects for our customers. The successful candidate will actively participate in collaborative meetings with the project staff to include development teams, other test team members, and other key stakeholders. They will work within and across teams collecting, identifying, defining, organizing, and/or presenting detailed information and data needed to accomplish testing goals. They will also assist in the Quality Management process by identifying all test requirements, test execution, and extracting meaningful test metrics for Requirements, Test Execution, and Defect analysis. This position is located in Tysons Corner, VA and may move to Arlington, VA.

    Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

    As the Technical Test Engineer leader of the test team, the successful candidate will plan, manage, and execute tasks related to the creation the test strategy, test design, development of test cases, test scripts, and test data and leadership and management of the testing team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Responsible Testing Lead for an overall Project area including Testing Team leadership, Testing Strategy, Testing deliverables (Documentation, Test Plans, Test Execution etc)
    • Help lead the development of a Master Test Plan that will document processes associated with test design, test traceability, test execution (e.g., white box, black box) and the tools used for a large and complex, COTS implementation effort
    • Design, develop, evaluate and update test scenarios, test plans and test procedures as necessary
    • Work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to understand product specifics and create corresponding test strategies
    • Develop, implement, and report status for system test cases for testing. Analyze test cases and provide regular progress reports.
    • Serve as subject matter specialist providing testing know-how for the support of user requirements of complex to highly complex software/hardware applications.
    • Develop executable test procedures for interface testing, device testing, data migration testing, and other areas required by the project.
    • Create project resource estimates, define metrics to track completion phase, defect reports, defect prevention, development efficiency and quality
    • Write detailed test cases with expected results for various scenarios including positive and negative testing
    • Execute testing on both web frontend systems and backend systems (Interfaces, devices, etc)
    • Provide recommendations to improve testing processes

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline; eight (8) years’ experience may be substituted for degree
    • At least 7 years of experience in developing test strategies, plans, and scripts
    • At least 7 years of experience in backend and frontend testing including interface testing and data migration testing, or device testing
    • At least 3 years of Test Lead experience as either a Test Lead Manager or Lead Testing Engineer (or both)
    • Experience with a broad range of tools to include HP ALM, Rational Quality Manager/DOORS, Jira and Version One
    • Must be able to analyze requirements for testability, review technical documentation to understand project architecture, and ensure traceability between various testing artifacts
    • Must have experience with integration testing and verifying system/component log files for errors and warnings
    • Must have experience with HL7 Interface Standards (Version 2.x and/or Version 3.x) including a good understanding and experience in design and implementation of testing artifacts for interface testing where HL7 was the primary standard being used.
    • Ability to examine and verify data transfer between components
    • Ability to work simultaneously on multiple tasks if necessary, handle changing priorities, be detail oriented, and able to work independently
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to obtain a public trust
    • Ability to travel >5%, if needed

    Desired Requirements:

    • Experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and VA-specific systems and processes to include VistA
    • Experience with Cerner Millennium
    • Experience with Medical Device Testing
