    AbleVets, LLC is a fast-growing Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing healthcare information technology services and resources to help the VA and DoD improve the lives of the people they serve. AbleVets has an opportunity for an experienced, motivated Helpdesk Technician to support healthcare information technology projects for our customers. We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable information technology professional to contribute training and acquired skills within a help desk support role. 

    Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

    The Helpdesk Technician is responsible for providing tier three end-user support. Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Providing tier III level support, which usually requires specialized resolution of an issue often involving changes to application code
    • Triaging, prioritizing, managing and reporting on help desk tickets/resolutions – once a week to management. Provide overall assistance on assistance in daily administration of VA scheduling applications using .net, C#, HTTP, JSON and  VISTA/Mumps
    • Documenting all issues and and generate reports detailing common problems and error trends
    • Providing senior level technical support to end users for issues not resolved at Tier I/II
    • Timely responses to reported incidents
    • Providing communications to requestors and other parties
    • Building knowledge base by managing formulation of new documentation that describes technical fixes
    • Working closely with the database administrator as it pertains to changes to application data tables
    • Determining time estimates and schedule for own work
    • Responding to general service requests

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors Degree or higher in Science or related field and at least 5 years IT; Six additional years of related experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
    • Experience including:
      • At least 3 years providing Tier III helpdesk support
      • At least 2 years specific development experience with Classic ASP
    • Ability to learn and understand the application at the presentation, application and data base layers
    • Ability to multi-task and quickly adapt to changing priorities
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance 

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Previous Department of Veterans Affairs experience
