    AbleVets, LLC, is a fast-growing Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing healthcare information technology services and resources to help the Veterans Affairs (VA) and Department of Defense (DoD) improve the lives of the people they serve. AbleVets has an opportunity available for an experienced Mid-Level Business Analyst to support healthcare information technology projects for our customers. The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for gathering and documenting system/business requirements in the form of user stories and use cases, requirements and systems analysis, facilitating design and development of software solutions, assisting with the testing process, and helping quality assurance process.

    Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

    • Collect, analyze qualitative and quantitative data to provide insights to improve operations
    • Collaborate across teams and stakeholders to facilitate the documentation of current practices, identify process gaps, redesign processes, identify appropriate controls and design automated solutions
    • Lead discussions on establishing and controlling application scope
    • Facilitate requirements gathering via workshops, interview sessions, brainstorming, documentation analysis, and other techniques as necessary
    • Lead customer meetings to understand current client business practices and business needs supporting requirements analysis
    • Document and validate high-level business needs and process models
    • Ensure that requirement statements are complete, consistent, concise, comprehensible, traceable, feasible, unambiguous, and verifiable, and that they conform to standards
    • Collaborate with stakeholders, team members and analysts regarding requirements development and translation into software specifications
    • Lead traceability efforts from high-level business needs through functional validation
    • Support definition of standard story development across multiple teams/projects, documenting new patterns and standards, as applicable
    • Participate in requirements prioritization
    • Write detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions and dependencies required to develop or modify application
    • Support development and refinement of requirements, identifying and recommending corrections to gaps or deficiencies
    • Write and/or review documents needed to support application release
    • Work closely with development team to ensure all requirements are understood and have corresponding test scripts
    • Ensure the project teams have clear, consistent, and testable requirements
    • Support business validation of functionality

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or other related field with a minimum of eight (8) years of experience. An additional six (6) years of related experience can be substituted for degree requirement.
    • Experience with Program Management tools to include Microsoft Project, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Office Professional (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access)
    • Experience working within an Agile Development environment
    • Exceptional organizational skills
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate to both technical teams and management
    • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance is required

    Peferred/Desired Skills:

    • Master’s degree in associated field
    • Previous IT work experience supporting medical management programs, i.e. VA Community Care, Veteran’s Choice, and/or VA Patient Centered Community Care Network
    • Demonstrated experience working within the Community Care or Managed Care fields to include: Referral Management, Claims Processing, Disease Management, Appointing, and/or Utilization Management
