    AbleVets, LLC is a fast-growing Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing healthcare information technology services and resources to help the VA and DoD improve the lives of the people they serve. AbleVets has an opportunity for an experienced, motivated Scrum Master to support projects for our VA customer.

    Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

    The Scrum Master will support the delivery team by ensuring clear communication and organization and implementing Agile best practices to lead the delivery of quality products. The successful candidate will gather requirements and create and maintain the production backlog and release plan. Working with stakeholders to understand customer needs, the Scrum Master will validate solutions, develop and communicate the program vision, create and maintain a product roadmap, and manage the backlog to prioritize workflow and define releases. Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Work closely with the customer and stakeholders to understand and fulfill the product vision and roadmap
    • Communicate committed stories for the upcoming Sprint to Scrum team and stakeholders
    • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies and assist with impediment resolution in a timely, cost effective manner
    • Be accountable for the independent delivery of value to customers and stakeholders by ensuring that the right product is defined, prioritized, and built
    • Proactively manage and prioritize the product, release, and sprint backlogs according to business value, complexity, and expectations
    • Provide business leadership for the Scrum team by understanding and executing the product goals and vision
    • Engage stakeholders, contributors, and technical resources to analyze user needs, resource limitations, and impediments
    • Ensure the completeness and accuracy of product backlog items for the Scrum team by creating clear and thoughtful documentation
    • Respect and empower the Scrum team’s ability to create its own plan of action each sprint while protecting the team
    • Track and produce key metrics (e.g., burn-down charts)


    • Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or other related technical field with a minimum of eight (8) years of experience. An additional six (6) years of related experience can be substituted for degree requirement.
    • Scrum Master Certification
    • Direct hands on experience with writing user stories, grooming backlogs, and prioritizing conflicting requirements
    • Experience with Agile development tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Rally, etc.
    • Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
    • Demonstrated ability to use strong leadership skills to provide guidance, influence, and direction
    • Ability to translate metrics into business decisions of importance and priorities
    • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance 

    Preferred/Desired Skills:

    • Master’s degree in associated field
    • Previous IT work experience supporting medical management programs, i.e. VA Community Care, Veteran’s Choice, and/or VA Patient Centered Community Care Network
    • Demonstrated experience working within the Community Care or Managed Care fields to include: Referral Management, Claims Processing, Disease Management, Appointing, and/or Utilization Management
