    AbleVets, LLC is a fast-growing Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing healthcare information technology services and resources to help the VA and DoD improve the lives of the people they serve. AbleVets has an opportunity for a motivated BI Report Developer to support our fast-growing organization. This position is located in our Chantilly, VA office.

    Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

    We are looking for a BI Report Developer with a passion for analyzing data and discovering insights to serve as a change agent for a large government agency.  This individual will identify and work collaboratively with subject matter leads to assess a current business problem; gather requirements; determine data needs (both internal and external); utilize advanced analytics to create and deliver dashboards and solutions; and then help the customer put the analysis in context (e.g., pointing out trends, discovering leading indicators, etc.) The successful candidate will create, monitor, and review our current dashboards and analytics products and assist our customers in understanding what the data is showing. This role will be able to understand the big picture, consume and rationalize details, think critically, and reason analytically to solve problems.

    • Translate metrics and analytical information into easily understood information
    • Analyze, develop, and create reports using a variety of input sources

    • Manage data in analytic platforms and business intelligence tools, dashboards, reports
    • Extract data from databases using software tools, such as SAS, SPSS, SQL, etc
    • Effectively communicate to all levels of management, both within the company and with the client


    • Bachelor’s Degree in information technology, Data Science or another related technical field with a minimum of five (5) years of experience. An additional six (6) years of related experience can be substituted for degree requirement.
    • Experience in a Business Intelligence (BI) environment using common BI reporting tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, etc.
    • Experience analyzing business needs and defining detailed business requirements 
    • Strong consultative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
    • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing
    • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to work independently
    • Hands-on experience with Agile BI development
    • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
    • Experience in relational and dimensional data modeling and visualization
    • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding, Agile-oriented environment
    • Must be able to travel when needed at least 5% of the time
    • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance

    Preferred / Desired Skills:

    • Master’s degree in an associated field
    • Previous IT work experience supporting medical management programs, i.e. VA Community Care, Veteran’s Choice, and/or VA Patient-Centered Community Care Network
    • Demonstrated experience working within the Community Care or Managed Care fields to include: Referral Management, Claims Processing, Disease Management, Appointing, and/or Utilization Management
