  • Overview

    AbleVets, LLC is a fast-growing Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing healthcare information technology services and resources to help the VA and DoD improve the lives of the people they serve. AbleVets has an opportunity for an experienced, motivated Release Manager to support healthcare information technology projects for our customers.

    Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the content and deployment of individual software/hardware releases. This role will coordinate with quality assurance and development teams. The successful candidate will document releases, ensuring version descriptions and release notes are accurate.

     

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Perform frequent, regular reviews of required and appropriately linked product data in the mandated repositories
    • Provide timely feedback to the product team concerning the status of the product data and the status of the team’s compliance with the VIP Release Process
    • Support OI&T’s single VIP Release process and provide all required VIP release documentation
    • Utilize calendaring process and tools to track software installations, hardware replacements, system upgrades, patch release and implementation, special works in progress, and other deployment events in the VA production environment
    • Provide data for populating and updating the calendaring process for each release and deployment
    • Provide inputs to the Deployment and Installation Guide which includes back-out and rollback procedures, and own overall completion for each release
    • Provide inputs to the User Manual which addresses procedural information for the business users on daily operational use of the software
    • Coordinate test site calls with VA staff to include Release Coordinators and VIP Release Agents once the product is approved for Initial Operating Capability (IOC) production testing
    • Provide inputs to the IOC Release Plan and Sustainment plan documentation
    • Consult in the coordination and validation of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for dependencies that highlight the commitment of partners to associated release

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or other related field with a minimum of five (5) years of experience. An additional six (6) years of related experience can be substituted for degree requirement.
    • Experience in systems analysis and software/hardware release management operations
    • Experience with large-scale system deployment
    • Excellent problem-solving skills
    • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance is required

    Preferred/Desired Skills:

    • Master’s degree in associated field
    • Previous IT work experience supporting medical management programs, i.e. VA Community Care, Veteran’s Choice, and/or VA Patient Centered Community Care Network
    • Demonstrated experience working within the Community Care or Managed Care fields to include: Referral Management, Claims Processing, Disease Management, Appointing, and/or Utilization Management
    • Previous experience with Veterans Affairs (VA) OI&T VIP process and Rational Toolset is a big plus
