  • Overview

    AbleVets, LLC is a fast-growing Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing healthcare information technology services and resources to help the VA and DoD improve the lives of the people they serve. AbleVets has an opportunity for an experienced, motivated Database Developer to support our VA customer. This position is located in our Chantilly, VA office. 

    Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

    • Design stable, reliable and effective databases
    • Optimize and maintain legacy systems
    • Modify databases according to requests and perform tests
    • Solve database usage issues and malfunctions
    • Liaise with developers to improve applications and establish best practices
    • Gather user requirements and identify new features
    • Develop technical manuals
    • Provide data management support to users
    • Ensure all database programs meet company and performance requirements
    • Research and suggest new database products, services and protocols
    • Provide SQL and PL/SQL development in Oracle 11g environment
    • Integrate data from various back-end services and databases
    • Develop queries, troubleshoot issues, and perform bug fixes
    • Perform technical reviews of customer requirements, analyze source data, and perform gap analysis
    • Conduct acceptance testing, load testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning as required
    • Create and maintain documentation

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or other related technical field with a minimum of five (5) years of experience. An additional six (6) years of related experience can be substituted for degree requirement.
    • In-depth understanding of data management (e.g. permissions, recovery, security, and monitoring)
    • Knowledge of software development and user interface web applications
    • Hands on SQL development experience, including SSIS
    • ETL and stored procedures experience
    • Familiarity working with .Net Framework, JavaScript, HTML, and OracleLinux/Unix shell scripting experience
    • Hands on working experience with Oracle PL/SQL packages, procedures, coding
    • Experience with SQL tuning to support large databases
    • Self-starter that can work under general direction in a highly collaborative, team-based environment
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance 

    Preferred/Desired Skills:

    • Master’s degree in associated field
    • Previous C# or Java development experience on both Linux and Unix platforms
    • Previous IT work experience supporting medical management programs, i.e. VA Community Care, Veteran’s Choice, and/or VA Patient Centered Community Care Network
    • Demonstrated experience working within the Community Care or Managed Care fields to include: Referral Management, Claims Processing, Disease Management, Appointing, and/or Utilization Management
