    AbleVets, LLC is a fast-growing Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing healthcare information technology services and resources to help the Veterans Affairs (VA) and Department of Defense (DoD) improve the lives of the people they serve. AbleVets has an opportunity available for an experienced, motivated, Security Architect to support our VA customer. This position is located in our Chantilly, VA office.

    Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will be responsible for providing Information Assurance and Cybersecurity support to the VA. The Security Architect has IT experience with NIST 800-37, Guide to Applying Risk Management Framework to Federal Information Systems, NIST 800-53rev4 Security and Privacy Controls for Federal Information Systems and Organizations, cybersecurity policy and threat mitigation. The successful candidate must be well versed in security documentation, cybersecurity tools, network topologies, intrusion detection, PKI, and secured networks. They must have familiarity and experience in the implementation of cybersecurity regulations.

     

    Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

    • Identify security risks through the analysis of known information.
    • Assess the Cyber Security risk of IT systems documenting them in formal risk assessments and supporting artifacts associated with the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process.
    • Organize, develop, and present security briefings, written summaries, and written reports incorporating narrative, tabular and/or graphic elements on A&A activities.
    • Implement IT security solutions and assures successful implementation.
    • Apply knowledge of security principles, policy, and regulations to daily tasking.
    • Provide IT security engineering support to cross-functional project teams to ensure that VA security policies, processes, procedures, and controls are adhered to, planned for, implemented throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Provide analysis in the area of how VA currently employs and embeds Cybersecurity into its tools, design and development methodologies, and Application Programming Interface (API)/service _driven architecture.
    • Establish standard operating procedures for embedding security driven processes into the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
    • Effectively and efficiently communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze and monitor a project’s security posture and status.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or another related field with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience. An additional six (6) years of related experience can be substituted for degree requirement.
    • Technical knowledge of information security concepts and technologies
    • Experience with Cyber Security document management and is familiar with security and privacy rules associated with the Risk Management Framework and NIST 800-53rev4
    • Experience with securing networks
    • Self-starter that can work under general direction in a highly collaborative, team-based environment
    • Excellent problem-solving skills
    • Must be able to travel when needed at least 5% of the time
    • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance

    Preferred / Desired Skills:

    • Master’s degree in an associated field
    • Previous IT work experience supporting medical management programs, i.e. VA Community Care, Veteran’s Choice, and/or VA Patient-Centered Community Care Network
    • Demonstrated experience working within the Community Care or Managed Care fields to include: Referral Management, Claims Processing, Disease Management, Appointing, and/or Utilization Management
