AbleVets has an opportunity for an experienced, motivated Lead SQL Database Developer. 

    Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will work to understand customer needs and requests, validate solutions, and define and create the architectural depictions and documents to ensure seamless integration and address all customer priorities, including performance, functionality, ease of use, and security considerations. Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Work with ETL Developers, Database Administrators, Data and Business Analysts, as necessary, to provide recurring and ad-hoc reporting solutions for a data warehouse environment
    • Actively participate in the full System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including analysis, planning, implementation, testing, documentation, and operations for routine and ad-hoc developer activities within an Agile delivery approach that supports incremental development of high-quality, fully tested application component delivery:
      • Develop, maintain, and update ETLs using the full Informatica suite to facilitate extraction, transformation, and data load processes from OLTP systems to OLAP systems
      • Design and/or implement the logical and physical model(s) identifying the required data and technical architecture to include standard business industry practice features such as On-Line Analytic Processing (OLAP) cubes or new approaches to data warehousing and reporting
      • Write and produce clean, high-quality, high-performance, maintainable code and processes
      • Assist in the tuning of the new Informatica job streams to reduce daily load time.
      • Create data extraction, transformation, validation, and cleansing procedures needed to alter data from pre-existing systems and current data sources into information in the EDW
    • Providing Subject Matter Expertise on a systemic, enterprise-wide level including:
      • Analyze existing/legacy systems architecture or data for integration and provide a recommended design to improve the stability, reliability, and availability of the EDW
      • Analyze known or potential risks and their subsequent impact on the EDW
      • Conduct transfer and efficiency load tests
      • Dimensional modeling, including schema design and mapping using KPIs, fact, dimensions, physical, logical, alias and tables
      • Analyze detailed dependencies between data assets and determine where they are used throughout a data integration solution
      • Use metadata and meta model asset inventory reports to locate data and integration process assets
    • Active engagement with team members and stakeholders:
      • Effectively communicate and present analysis results and recommendation for the most effective approach and timeline for delivering the desired work product
      • Keep stakeholders updated on statuses of all assigned tasks according to published workflows
      • Provide guidance and leadership to junior developers
    • Create, update, and maintain any metadata to be consistent with the work performed, to include artifacts such as data dictionaries, models, mappings, and technical specifications 

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline with a minimum of five (5) years of database development experience using An additional eight (8) years of additional related experience can be substituted for degree
    • At least five (5) years of development experience on both Linux and Unix platforms
    • At least five (5) years of SQL development experience
    • Experience in Data warehousing, Data Modeling, Data conversion, Data integration, Data Migration, ETL Process, and/or Business Intelligence
    • Must have experience with the following languages/tools/technologies/systems/environments (specified versions or higher)
      • Oracle Database 12c
      • Informatica PowerCenter 9.6 and 10.2
      • Oracle Solaris 10 and 11
      • Red Hat Linux
      • Structured Query Language (SQL)
      • PL*SQL
      • Unix shell scripts
      • APEX
      • C#
      • Java
    • Experience with large-scale system deployment
    • Self-starter that can work under general direction in a highly collaborative, team-based environment
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to obtain a Public Trust

    PREFERRED/DESIRED SKILLS:

    • Ability to analyze large datasets
    • Preferred experience: Bachelor’s degree with eight (8) plus years of relevant experience
