    AbleVets, LLC is a fast-growing Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing healthcare information technology services and resources to help the VA and DoD improve the lives of the people they serve. AbleVets has an opportunity for an experienced, motivated Proposal Solution Architect to lead development of logical, well-organized, and competitive proposal solutions and respective storyboards, outlines, and writing guides. This position is located at our Chantilly, VA office.

    Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

    • Works as a key member of AbleVets capture team to serve as our lead for the development of comprehensive, well-organized proposal solution storyboards and outlines
    • Works closely with capture managers to define and integrate win themes, differentiators and other competitive strategies into proposal storyboards and outlines
    • Works closely with technical solution architects to brainstorm and develop innovative and competitive technical approaches, and to structure and capture these approaches into proposal storyboards and outlines
    • Defines logical, compliant, and thorough proposal outlines that will serve as the shell for proposal section authors, both internal to AbleVets and with our teaming partners
    • Provides critical thinking to assess proposal requirements, ask thoughtful, compelling questions to our technical SMEs, and to identify proposal-level competitive approaches
    • The individual will be teamed with Capture and Operations personnel to help uncover and develop best-in-class solutions to meet customer needs
    • Review RFP documents to understand scope of work and customer needs to develop an overarching solution to be proposed as part of the solicitation response
    • Communicate proposal solutions (and associated outlines, storyboards) with management, and teaming partners, including presentations and white papers
    • Researches, interviews AbleVets and teammate staff, and gathers technical or business information for use in proposal development activities while incorporating appropriate proposal concepts, practices/procedures, and appropriate writing methodologies
    • Able to brief-out detailed proposal outlines with broader proposal and capture team
    • Serve as a proposal section author using outlines you developed to guide your writing – note, approximately 50% of this role requires strong proposal writing skills


    • Bachelor’s degree in technical field with a minimum of twelve (12) years of experience serving as a proposal solutions architect and/or author (preferably in the Federal market space).  An additional six (6) years of experience can be substituted for educational requirement.
    • Experience leading technical and management solutions sessions and strategy sessions.
    • Strong, technical, and creative personality with an attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Strong ability to work in fast-paced, quick-turn proposal environment
    • Strong ability to perform critical thinking to help identify differentiators and to develop insightful questions to drive productive solutioning sessions with SMEs
    • Strong experience using MS Office products (Word, PowerPoint)

    Preferred/Desired Skills:

    • Moderate or greater level experience with IT service areas to include software and systems engineering, cybersecurity, databases and analytics, and IT program management. 
    • Strong preference for five (5) year of experience supporting DoD, Dept of Veterans Affairs, and/or HHS with solutions development.
    • Ability to work onsite at AbleVets Chantilly, VA Headquarters
