    AbleVets, LLC, is a fast-growing Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing healthcare information technology services and resources to help the Veterans Affairs (VA) and Department of Defense (DoD) improve the lives of the people they serve. AbleVets has an opportunity available for a Senior .NET Developer to support our customer. This position is located in our Washington, D.C office.

    Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

    • Develop a stable, scalable code in support of customer requirements in .NET and SQL
    • Lead new development starting with requirements analysis and design
    • Direct the design and implementation of new functionalities and workflows
    • Implement test-driven development methods, supporting an end to end testing
    • Maintain, debug, integrate and enhance the current system
    • Refine user requirements and identify areas for enhancement
    • Develop an application database, .NET, and Authentication Service
    • Create and enhance existing role-based security in Windows environments
    • Normalize and clean up the existing database
    • Assist with the implementation of Active Directory of Authentication and server
    • Perform SQL server maintenance to include backup and restore procedures, and migrating legacy data
    • Conduct load testing and report preparation
    • Organize the peer review of plans, documentation, and code
    • Develop Operations and Maintenance Support Plans, User Manuals, and Training Plans
    • Ensure the team's understanding of goals, priorities, and how they support customer needs
    • Direct efforts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team, through the promotion of continual improvement


    • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other related field and at least ten (10) years of related experience. An additional six (6) years of related experience can be substituted for degree requirement.
    • Direct hands-on experience developing with .NET
    • Demonstrated experience with SQL databases such as SQL Server (2005/2008/2012)
    • Experience with the software development lifecycle (SDLC), specifically with Agile/Scrum
    • Experience with ASP.NET and Visual Studio
    • Demonstrated ability to use strong leadership skills to provide guidance, influence, and direction
    • Self-starter that can work under general direction in a highly collaborative, team-based environment
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
